Login, Signup and Other Forms Accessible
This covers all aspects of registering with a service or site, then returning to sign-in and finally to work with forms. Those who use screen readers and keyboard access need to be able to reach the forms and exit to the rest of the site. There is a need for good labelling to enable users to understand the type of contents required. (W3C WCAG 2.0 2.1, W3C WCAG 2.0 2.4, CAPTCHA W3C WCAG 2.0 1.1 and W3C WCAG 2.0 3.3 ).
These techniques may be used to perform the test.
Quick Overview: Keyboard access via use of tab or arrow keys etc, check CAPTCHAS, WAVE toolbar Errors, Features and Alerts for checking labels. Use NVDA or Thunder to check screen reading accuracy.
Criteria for this Test
Failure with screen reader and keyboard - Lacks labels to forms.
Failure with screen reader (e.g. CAPTCHA without alternative or inaccessible forms).
CAPTCHA alternative offered or some accessible forms but some labels may be misleading.
Simple, accessible forms with clear labels e.g. 'username (email)' and 'password'.
